Gear should be functional, not maximally expensive.
What’s involved
Some gear changes how the saxophone responds and sounds. Other choices are mostly about comfort, reliability, or safety. Cost matters too, and the most expensive option isn’t necessarily the most useful one.
Philosophy
Gear helps, but you have to balance response, sound, comfort, reliability, and cost. And don’t go too deep down the rabbit hole.
