Posture
Basic idea
Posture is how you arrange your body and the instrument so you can play in a balanced, comfortable way.
What’s involved
Your body position and the instrument’s position determine how the horn sits relative to you. The strap carries the weight. The places where the horn contacts your body help keep it balanced and keep it from rotating or shifting as you play. Together, those relationships affect comfort and how freely you can move.
Philosophy
Good posture lets the rest of your playing work more freely while keeping the horn balanced and allowing you to stay comfortable and free to move with less tension and fatigue.
